Empowering Women Together

Our Mission

To help women in spiritual and tangible ways.

Our History

ICWM International had its beginnings in 2003. This was when women struggling

with addictions, and the trafficking of persons in rural Manitoba Canada was

introduced to ICWMI's future founder, Ms. Shon L. McLaren.

Ms. McLaren had worked on a large human trafficking case in the mid 1980's

overseas. Later in the same decade, in her late 30's, Ms. McLaren was sold

into the sex industry and then ultimately rejected. This happened while Ms. McLaren was holidaying overseas under a Canadian tourist company. The early above experiences of Ms. McLaren and the experiences of other survivors, both staff and participants, has helped make ICWM International what it is today.

Looking Ahead

Moving Forward

ICWM International has expanded since the early days. Our partners tell us

that we are still the “go to” organization for local information on exploitation and counter exploitation in the Province of Manitoba.

We were the first organization to be invited into the Headingley Women's

Correctional Centre with our spiritual program for those struggling with addictions.

Internationally, we encourage women to decide for themselves the areas of need

in their locations. For example in India, walking alongside widows is huge.

Educating on female circumcision and visiting children in jail has given way to

training up evangelists in Kenya. The need for prayer in the Middle East has become

important, while encouraging local church leaders in Jamaica has always been on

our list.
